We have also experienced performance problems with using SP3. We have
done some automated tests running against SP2, SP2+slammer hotfix and
SP3. What we have found is that the slammer hotfix definetely
degrades performance. SP3 degreades performance slightly more but the
big performance falloff came with the hotfix. In some load tests,
we've seen processes times double.
Has anyone opened a call with MSFT? We plan on doing this on Monday.
Does MSFT monitor this forum? If so, we have a full automation lab
where we'd be happy to give you any information/logging you need.
