What is the benifit to log shipping over replication? Im starting to
research it and so far I cant come up with any. I would have to assume there
are some good points. I have a LARGE amount of data. Also is the secondary
machine in log shippng read-only?
Thanks in advance.

1. confusation about replication, standby, fail over and log shipping

I am a little confuse about the difference between transaction replication,
a standby server, fail over solution and log shipping.
I have a SQL Server 2000 on one computer. I bought a new computer and I
would like him to be a mirror of the first SQL Server.
I would like that Server 1 will automatically update server 2.
When server 1 will crush I would like to be able to switch them manually.
Both computers are on my private network.
What is the simplest solution for me ?
Thanks
