Bad bad Cookies

Post by craig » Wed, 19 Jan 2000 04:00:00

If I click on a database in Enterprise Manager to see the properties of
a database I get the following error:
Internet Explorer cannot open the following site
file://C:\MSSQL7
\HTML\database.htm?SQLNSCookie=01D223E8000000000000000000001.
Invalid arguemnt

I see jerry responded to this same question months ago but I never saw
a resolution to the issue.
All of the computers in our office do this.  We are using ie4 with sp2.

Any ideas?

Which platform is this?
This was/is a know problem when you run Win2k BETA 2, which is fixed in
later releases including the RTM version.

NT 4.0 sp4.
Thanks, but we found the issue.  IE4 seems to have a "bug" that causes
havic if the windows desktop update is not installed with the product.
The solution was to install IE4's desktop update or go around deleting
people's profiles.  I installed the update and it was all good.
(the bug also screws up IE4's Help/about and find features)

The SQL Server tools require IE4 SP1, does this problem also occur with IE4
SP1.

I don't know.  We only have SP1 installed.

1. RDO bad, bad, bad

wish i had thought of checking out the newsgroup earlier, because it would
have saved me a lot of grief.
anyway, wanted to add my two cents worth and warn everyone off from using
RDO for critical applications.
we tried using it and SQL server for a spacecraft ground control
application and spent 3 months trying to get
it stable. finally had to junk the app. microsoft 1.0 strikes again.
