Advise on localization

All,
I'm looking for advise on ways to implement localization within 6.5.  I
need to have a message store, available to triggers and stored procedures,
which retrieves messages based upon the login user's default language.
Currently, I have the following:
Language table: with identifiers for all languages the server
                        supports.
Message table: primary key - message id and the                         language,
                        message text in appropriate language.

I do not need to support double byte characters.  I have built views which
retrieve a message based upon a given message id, as well as the language
identifier for the user's default language.

Currently, our server is setup for us_english only.  I have never done
anything like this before, and I'm not sure that this scheme will work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
