Upgrading 6.5 -> 2000

Upgrading 6.5 -> 2000

Post by Jonathan Wareha » Fri, 19 Apr 2002 18:40:21

Hi,

I am upgrading databases from 6.5 to 2000 (different servers) using the
upgrade wizard and I want to prevent users from logging into the 6.5 server.
Can I set the databases to single user or will this prevent the upgrade
wizard from executing properly?

Thanks,

Jonathan

Upgrading 6.5 -> 2000

Users cannot connect to the SQL Server 6.5 server while the upgrade process
runs. During the upgrade process, the SQL Server 6.5 server is stopped and
started while objects are scripted and data is extracted. When the data
transfer starts, only SQL Server 2000 is running, and it is not possible to
access SQL Server 6.5.
Thanks

1. SQL Upgrade 6.5 --> 2000, scheduled tasks not transferred

Hi,

Using the SQL Server upgrade wizard to upgrade a 6.5 database to a SQL
2000 database ( same computer , named pipes upgrade ), we do not get
an option to transfer SQL executive settings.

On the system configuration screen of the SQL server upgrade wizard,
the SQL executive settings option is greyed out.

I suspected it was due to the SQL executive/Server Agent not being set
to auto-start. However even with this I still get the greyed out
option in the upgrade wizard.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
David.
