I am writing because of my recent problem with installing the Evaluation
Edition of SQL Server 7.0 on my personal computer. As I install the
software, it consistantly stops responding during installation while it says
on the screen "Connecting to Server". I looked into the task manager and it
lists the sql setup as not responding and cnfgsvr and sqlsvr are listed but
no messages are shown. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the
application and also tried installing sp1 for Sql Server 7.0, but nothing
works. I always get the same error. If I try clicking on cnfgsvr.exe, I
get a list of errors. I did save all the initial installation error files
and have attached them to this document. Do you have any recommendations
for this problem?
My computer configuration is the following:
Intell Pentium III 450 Mhz Processor
10.2 GB WD hard drive
16x CDROM
128 Mb of ram (Dimm Ram)
ATI All in wonder Video Card (RAge II+ with latest drivers)
(Current settings are 32 bit color and 800x 600 resolution)
Operating system is Windows 98 with internet Explorer 5 and all thee latest
downloads
I have tried the following Installation Methods:
1) Installing from my local hard drive
2) Rebuilding the server after failed installation
