Unable to query SQL Server security

Unable to query SQL Server security

Post by Erik Mee » Wed, 15 Sep 1999 04:00:00

HELP,

After trying the Upgrade Wizard to upgrade SQL 6.5 server to 7.0, I have
another urgent problem. I can not retrieve any SQL server security
information on SQL 6.5
If I try a xp_grantlogin or if I use the SQL Security manager, I get
messages like 'Unable to query SQL Server security information.' and 'No
accounts have been granted user authority'. I'm also unable to grant
security.
Can somebody tell me what I have to do to repair this.

Thanks,
Erik Meel

Erik - What account are you using and what permissions do you have.  Try
logging in as sa and trying again as a test.

Jerry,

I was logged in with the 'sa' account. I also tried with my own account.
But I think I have a drastic problem with my master db. All systemtables
have disappeared.
Hopely a backup can help.
I'm quit sure that this is the result of an unsuccesfull upgrade of 6.5 to
7.0
Have you heard such things before?

regards,
Erik
