Linked Server Error....

Linked Server Error....

Post by jb » Fri, 19 Oct 2001 21:47:48

Hi All,

I've recently started working with SQL Server 7.0 and am
having some trouble linking to a MS Access database.  By
using Enterprise Manager I can set up a Linked Server but
when I try to click the 'Tables' icon I receive the
following error:
"Error 7399: OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0'
reported and error."

Then in the Sql error log there is an error: "Unable to
load ole/db initialization service."

Not sure if one message has to do with the other but
thought I'd mention it anyways.
Any ideas to fix this would be appreciated.
TIA

1. Error Accessing ODBC Linked Server - Error 7356

I am getting the following error when I access a linked server through a
simple SELECT statement....

Server: Msg 7356, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'MSDASQL' supplied inconsistent metadata for a column.
Metadata information was changed at execution time.

I am using Microsoft "OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers" for my connection to
the server. The ODBC source is a HP3000/Image database.

I looked up the following error on the Microsoft support site but it does
not appear to be the problem I am experiencing since I am not using
views.....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
