Yes it does work very well as a matter of fact. There are 3 versions of
the engine: Lite $99, Commercial $199 & Professional $1450. Although
the advertising reads "No programming needed" it would be more acurate
to say "No C/C++ programming needed". This is a general purpose 3D
raycasting engine with a very powerful scripting language. Programming
skill is a definite advantage to getting the most out of the product.
This can be used for a large number of 3D style games not just
Doom/Quake type games. Racing, adventure, RPG, Sports games, etc are
all quite possible. One comany is even producing a massively
multiplayer RPG with this right now that basically blows UO away. If
you get this make sure you get the most current version which produces
Win95/DirectX executables and offers both 1st & 3rd person
perspectives. I would suggest getting the Commercial version to start
with just to see if you like it and then upgrade to the Professional if
you are serious. The Lite version is a little too "lite" to be of much
use.
