I also fighted with this beast.
I did compile it with:
CFLAGS="-Ae +O3 +Olibcalls +Onolimit +DAportable" \
CXXFLAGS="-Aa +O3 +Olibcalls +Onolimit +DAportable" \
CPPFLAGS="-DHPUX -Dinline= -I/opt/dce/include -I/usr/local/include" \
(your choices for path names may be different.)
Please understand that you _must_ have PHSS_19739 (and PHSS_20608) installed
before compiling (and of course running) mysqld.
It works for me except the shutdown. When I shut down myqld normally, the
shutdown is logged but mysqld stays alive until killed with -9.
(I reported to this mailing list and we had a short discussion but no
solution, yet. I didn't have the time to look into this issue again.)
I also managed to compile mysql with HP's threads (same patches required)
CFLAGS="-DHPUX -I/opt/dce/include -I/usr/local/include" \
CXXFLAGS="-DHPUX -I/opt/dce/include -I/usr/local/include" \
[same --settings as for HP's compiler suite]
I did not manage to run mysql with the include mit-pthreads. I had some fight
with socket.h in mit-pthreads first. After making some small adaptions to
meet HP's notation I could compile it but it does not work. It starts
up but then hangs. I also had a look to other implementations of pthreads
for HP-UX 10.20 but no improvement.
PS. Before I upgraded gcc to 2.95.2 I had a perfectly running mysql-3.22.xx
compiled with gcc-2.7.x and the included mit-pthreads (even though the
documentation said "no go with 2.7.x" :-)
