Canon BJC600 Purge Unit

Canon BJC600 Purge Unit

Anybody have any experience with the "purge unit" on Canon BJC 600c
Colour Bubblejet printer. Just got a quote that it's $180 plus $50
service charge to repair/replace.

WOW! the printing cost per page just went up by about $0.10.

Are there alternatives?

1. Canon BJC 4000 Purge unit

I have a Canon, BJC 4000, that needs the purge unit replaced. I can find
where to order the part, but can not find disassembly instructions. I
have searched the FAQ as well as dejanews, to no avail. I remember
reading a post sometime ago on this ng( or possibly
sci.electronics.repair) that dealt with repair or
replacement of the purge unit for this printer, but can not find it. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John
