I didn't expect my HP PhotoSmart P1100's SmartMedia slot to be a speed
demon, but I expected better than this...

Olympus C-3000 on-camera USB transfer to PC: 78 seconds (1:18).

HP P1100 (on USB) SM slot copy to hard drive: 514 seconds (8:34).

6 and a half times slower... wow. For reference, could someone with an
external USB SM card reader post an exact time and amount (and reader
used) for a similar amount of data?

1. Best Inkjet Printer for 4X6's with Smartmedia Slot

Earlier I posted a request similar to this, but not specifying
inkjet technology (The Fuji uses thermal paper, and the Olympus
uses dye sublimation and is too expensive.)  
      I would like something that prints fairly rapidly, but with
photo quality. Help much appreciated.
