Anyone had an HP inkjet print way too dark?

Anyone had an HP inkjet print way too dark?

A friend of mine got an HP870csse printer when he bought an Aptiva
this past Chistmas. He has not used it a whole lot, but every time he
does, the colors on the printout are much darker than what they should
be. Cherry reds come out a dark red, and bright yellow comes out a
very dark mustard yellow. There is no smearing or loss of quality, and
the black is coming out like it should be.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or how to fix it? I
followed troubleshooting but that did not help.

I tested some files from my own computer, just to make sure the
monitor was not way out of whack, but it just keeps consistently
printing everything a few shades too dark.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't have an 870, but if if you go into the printer
properties, select Color/Manual/Options you should find
a slider there that allows you to change color intensity.

1. Canon S300 - Printing Badly after less than a Month - Anyone else Having Problems?

Bought the Canon S300 after trying out an Epson C60 and I must admit I
like the Canon better..........BUT

After less than a month and only using most of 1 black ink tank (color
tank nearly full) the printer started to leave vertical streaks
(probably along the line of the feeder rollers.  The leading edge of
the paper was getting black stains at the top of the page and the text
was getting smeared.  The back of the paper was also whose black smear
streaks in vertical lines (roler width).

Did a nozzle clean (not a deep nozzle clean) and it was ok for a day,
2 at most and same problems returned only worse.

I exchanged it for a new one since it was less than 30 days old.

Have people had similar problems with this printer?

I do no t know if I want to keep the new unit past the one month
period (I have 30 more days with the new unit) if it will be trouble
prone.

Was in use most of the time so no long down periods.

I have heard thast Canon inkjets need printerhead replacements (which
cost almost as much as a new printer in the case of the S300) and my
early problems are of concern vise a vie printhead longevity.

Any experiences peple have had with this printer that might help me?
