Tony/cisco/netters, could you please comment in general as to how the 4000Quote:> If only one FDDI interface is required on a router (to be purchased)

fares against the "old series" MGS for a similarly-configured non-fddi system?
For example, 4 ethernets, a T1 and a 56K WAN link. Is the 4000 performance
roughly comparable to an MGS CSC/2? CSC/3? CSC/4?
Basically, I keep running into a situation where I need about a half-dozen
interfaces on one box. A 4000 would do the trick in a lot of cases, but I'm
hesitant due to these rumored performance concessions. However, the next price
step up is the AGS (AGS/4 is now cheaper than the MGS/4) but after adding in
flash, etc, it's considerably more expensive than the 4000. There seems to be
a void in the product line between the two.
BTW, I could ask my salesperson and I will, but I, as I suspect others are, am
more interested in what the top ten technical folks at the home office in menlo
park have to say. And a wider audience can be addressed this way too.
I, as always, appreciate the feedback...
Thanks
Tom
