PIX 515 - can't ping on vlan

Post by fili » Fri, 21 Nov 2003 18:05:43

Hi,

on my interface ethernert1, I've got a vlan configured
the IF IP configuration is : 192.168.10.1/27    (.10.0  ->  .10.31)
the Vlan conf is : 192.168.10.40/27  (.10.32 -> .10.63)

I've allowed all icmp trafic from inside network

From an inside host, I can ping 192.168.10.1 but no response from 192.168.40

Why ?
Does VLAN not act as a real network ?

You say "no response from 192.168.40", but you have no 192.168.40 subnet,
so it looks like that might be a typo for 192.168.10.40 .

If so then you are trying to ping the 192.168.10.40 PIX interface from
a different network. The PIX does not allow you to ping any
PIX interface other than the "closest".

1. PIX 515 'PIX-1FE=' Problems

Hi,

I bought two PIX-1FE Interfaces for a PIX 515 and installed them. Now the
PIX doesn't boot anymore - it hangs between Bios and PIX-OS!

Example:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rebooting....
Cisco Secure PIX Firewall BIOS (4.0) #0: Thu Mar 2 22:59:20 PST 2000
Platform PIX-515

Use BREAK or ESC to interrupt flash boot. Use SPACE to begin flash boot
immediately. Reading 1507840 bytes of image from flash.

mcwa i82559 Ethernet at irq 7 MAC: 0050.54ff.3773
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's not a hardware defect, because the interfaces are working with a PIX 515E...
So, what could it be?

Thanks in advance...
Michael
