What are the RJ-45 to RJ-45 adapters (CAB-ADPTRS-RJ45) listed in the
catalog ? Are they for connecting two "octopus" cables back to back ?

Yes, more or less, if these are what I'm thinking they are.
They were intended for the case where you replace a cisco-500 (which has
female rj45 jacks on the box) with a 2511 (weird scsi connector on the box,
octopus cable that terminates in male rj45 plugs...) Such adaptors come in
at least two wiring schemes, and may need to be shielded for use to pass
EMI tests. The ones we sell should do it all correctly, although perhaps
at 3x the market rate for such adaptors :-(

Most 1601R's I've received have the RJ-45 to Serial 9 connectors, which are
easy to set up in Hyperterm on Windows XP. How do you communicate via the
