Hello,

We've been observing usage on our 7206, but are confused by the fact that,
on the router's serial interfaces, we sometimes get values for ifInOctets
which (multiplied by eight bits per octet) exceed the value of ifSpeed,
the data rate of the interface. How should we interpret these data?

If this is a FAQ or something, I'd appreciate it if someone would point me
in the right direction!

I ran into a bug in recent versions of IOS (11.2(9)) with the interface
counters. I was using MRTG to graph the traffic, and I was seeing falsly
high readings from the outbound traffic.

The Cisco tech support people recommended I switch off fast switching (no
ip route-cache) on the interface, and sure enough it fixed it.

Shame though, I like fast switching.

Upgrading to 11.2(11) fixed that problem for me [though it broke the
FastEthernet-Interface on our 7206].

11.2(12)P seems to have fixed both the counter problem and the
FastEthernet-Problems.  

But as 11.2(13) is supposed to be out these days, there might be still
lots of other bugs lurking in 11.2(12), who knows.
