1. VLAN: what's the difference between VTP & ISL/IEEE 802.1Q

Hello all

I am studying my VLAN bit for CCNA, I am just wondering what's the
difference between VTP and ISL/IEEE 802.1Q, from the book I've got they both
seems to be trunking protocols for VLANs, but came up in different sections.
Both ISL and VTP were created by Cisco, surely Cisco wouldn't create two
different protocols for the same purpose?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.
