Hi Brian,
since this is a 3102, you cannot set the clock-rate on the serial interface (
you must have a V.35 DTE cable on this side).
You will need a V.35 DCE cable for the 2501 (CABV.35FC).

Take a look at the cable, you will find a string like this : CAB-NPV35T; The T
at the end will indicate that it is a DTE Cable.
But for a simple identification the DCE cable will be female and the DTE cable
will be male.
For your direct posting:
the only old 3000 series router that can clock a serial interface is the 3104
witch has 2 serial and 1 ethernet interface.
I think the difference is that the other models dont have a chip for the clock,
the motherbord is the same for all models.
Check out the documentation CD Rom or CCO for detaild information.

1. ip link from 2500/3000 to as/400 over leased line
Hello,
I'd like to know if anybody has used something similar to the following
setup :
+----+ +----+ +-----+ +-----+ +-------+ +----+
| B1 +-Eth-+ As +=V35=+ LLA +<=LL=>+ LLA +=V35=+ Cisco +-Eth-+ B2 |
+----+ +----+ +-----+ +-----+ +-------+ +----+
Key:
B1, B2 : Boxes running any TCP aware OS
Eth : Ethernet link
As : AS/400, running v4r3m0 or higher
V35 : V35 link
LLA : leased line adapter
LL : leased line
Cisco : Cisco router, 2500 or 3000 (dusty spares from a friend :)
The goal is permitting B1 & B2 to communicate via tcp/ip, B1 using the
as/400 as its default gateway.
The as/400 seems to be only able to use the ll via frame relay (From the
ibm doc).
Which release of ios should i run to be able to talk to the as/400 and
what type of encapsulation should i use on the serial interface ?
All comments welcome.
TIA
Eric Masson
