2509 and NetWare remote nodes

Post by m.. » Thu, 17 Oct 1996 04:00:00

Hi,

I am trying to replace the NetWare Connect 2 server with the cisco
2509 8-port Asyn.access server. The 2509 support ppp encapsulation of
IPX traffic which enables the NetWare Connect 2 clients to dial into
the 2509. However, I am not sure if the NetWare Connect 2 clients can
connect to the NetWare network behind the 2509 or not?

In addition, does the 2509 Asyn. lines' PPP support IPX and IP
simultaneously?

Thanks
Mike

Yes.  It wouldn't be of much use if it didn't.

Certainly.

1. netware connect - remote node vs. remote control?

I'm new to the world of Netware Connect so I someone could answer a
complex question simply I would appreciate it.  Connect was configured
in my office to use Stac's Reachout for Remote Control connections.  In
working with dialup users I have seen the draw backs of this type of
service - the main one being accessing the local client hard drive when
connected, file transfer has to be used.  Has anybody worked with both
types of connections and what are your opinions of both - pros/cons?
