Has anyone had any luck connecting a cd-rom drive through interlink?  I attempt
ed this with an IBM Thinkpad 500 & a Gateway 2000 w/2X cd-rom and both serial &
parallel laplink cables, but had no luck.  I would greatly appreciate an info
on how to do this.
Thanks!

  I was able to use my cd-rom on a 486 machine from a 386 machine over a
pararllel interlink cable. Besure to have your cd-rom setup in your
config.sys file before the interlink server, otherwise the interlink will
not see the drive. Next you must instruct interlink to use more than
three drives. Check the manual or the dos help.

The answer is that it is not possible, unfortunately. (But I could
imagine that somewhere there is a CD-ROM driver that tricks Interlnk and
thus allows the connection.)

I tried to get the tape streamer on my desktop to backup my laptop's HD
with similar lack of success.  Is this the same reason?  Is it possible?

It can't be done. CD-ROM drives are accessed with MSCDEX (or a
compatible) which is itself a type of redirector.

I was just about to install MS DOS 6.22 upgrade on my daughter's computer
when she asked was it okay to do that atop PC DOS 5.x which stopped me
dead. I always figured they were interchangeable.

Are they?

It should work. Are you running INTERSVR on the laptop and accessing
the laptop's hard drive from your desktop?

1. HELP w/ MSDOS INTERLNK.EXE & INTERSVR.EXE ??

Dear MSDOS users:

Have anybody using INTERLNK.EXE and INTERSVR.EXE from MSDOS 6.X ?
If you know any other shareware program that I can ftp from, please
refer to that site.
I am trying to connect two computers (laptop to desktop) with a regular printer
cable to LPT1.  I load INTERSVR.EXE /LPT1 first and then I turn another
computer ON with DEVICE=C:\DOS\INTERLNK /LPT1 in the CONFIG.SYS.
The response for client computer was CONNECTION NOT ESTABLISHED.
WHY? WHY?  Any suggestion would appreciate.

Thank you in advance.
Chung. :)
