VB Desktop 70-176 and Distributed 70-175

Post by scottdela.. » Tue, 23 May 2000 04:00:00

Hi All

How similar are the two VB exams (desktop and distributed)? I've just
passed Desktop (70-176) with 842, will I need much further work to be
ready for the Distributed exam, given I have been working with VB and
distributed solutions for around 2 years.

Any other tips or observations?

Thanks
Scott

You should find the 70-175 to be much easier after you get through the
70-176. IF you do distributed solutions, you will find more that
actually applies. I know few programmers that actually use the P&D in
their work, yet the test tests heavily. You escape this in 70-175.

Make sure you cover DCOM and MTS.
Make sure you know about threading.
More on general COM than 70-176.
Must know something about DHTML, IIS (aka ASP apps - don't know the
reasoning here for naming them ASP apps) and ActiveX Docs.
Must know how to set up a proper SQL query for use with ADO.

Much of the knowledge for the 70-176 gets placed into 70-175. There
are some very similar questions. The biggest difference is the DCOM,
MTS and SQL Server info.

Excert from http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/exams/70-176.asp ...
