I bought my 2 meg buffer Ricoh 1420C CD-R from Consan Inc. Chanhassen,
MN  http://www.consan.com/   (612) 949-0053  for $375.  My salesperson
was Kip Peterson. I also purchased a Philips 8X SCSI CD reader at the
same time to do direct CD reader to CD writer copies. I had problems
with the Philips. Consan tech support  (no wait to talk to) sent me a
replacement Philips  overnight. I was not happy with it's 1X or slower
audio extraction. Once again Consan exchanged it ... no questions ...
for a Plextor 8Plex ($300) which arrived the next day and works
perfectly... 8X audio extraction !
I couldn't be more pleased with the quick service & tech support
from a company ! I'm sure there are cheaper prices to be found , but I
would probably be stuck with the Philips and 1X audio reading with
another company.

Same here! Got my drive from Dirt Cheap Drives for $329 and everything
is working like a charm. I ordered on Monday and received on Wednesday.
Can't ask for a better service than that...

1. Ricoh 1420 buffer -- internal and external different?

After looking at some other units, have decided to get this one for my
Mac, but can't decide whether to get internal or external version. Would
prefer external, but only stuff I've found says it has a 512K buffer,
while the internal has 2Mb?

thanks for any info
