Anyone have problems with this media?  I see alot of stuff about gold
and green but virtually nothing about blue (not even at the faq page).

I've had really good luck with these blue disks.  They also seem very
durable.

I use these all the time for audio disks. You can pay too much for them
if you don't hunt down bargains on the net. They seem to offer a greater
scratch-resistance, especially with the protective paint coating, but in
my experience some audio players cough on them, making a grating,
scratchy sound on playback. This is using a Pinnacle RCD 1000 for
burning.

I'm very satisfied with this media. No coasters so far. Sold a bit
expensive in some places.
I'm using a CDD2600.

Same here. I ONLY use Verbatim. If the local store doesn't have them
then I don't burn cd's until they do. I'm using the Ricoh 1420c and
have not made a single coaster... yet...
The rest of the CDR owners around my area must think the same, its
hard for the store to keep them in stock so when I'm buying I pick up
as many as I can afford at the moment.

Thanks for the input!  I've burned 3 cd's now all on blue and not one
coaster.  I think I'll stick with the blue!

That seems about right, as long as you are talking about the Verbatim
Datalife Plus disks that have the nice paint over the laquer layer. If
the other kind without paint, you can probably find them a bit cheaper,
though I'm not certain.

By the way, Best Buy arrests its customers when they try to write down
prices for comparative shopping. There was an article in the Washington
Post today (Feb. 28) about this:

http://www.americast.com/NEWS/HP/wpost/

Some guy got arrested for not putting his notepad away when asked to
stop jotting down prices. The criminal case was thrown out, and now he's
suing Best Buy. See the above link for more information.

Okay, one more quick question.
I paid $34.99US at Best Buy for 5 disks.  Is that too much for media?

For a big chain, that's a pretty good deal.  If you mail order, you
can probably do better.  It all depends on how desperate you are.  I paid $27
for 3 Sony greens yesterday because I needed a them right away.  I've seen
alot of mail order places selling them for an average of $5.50 - $6 a piece.

Just want to add my pesos..

I've only had my burner for a few weeks (Yamaha cdr-102) and I've ONLY
used Verbatim Blue.  I've had zero problems and see no need to go creating
any...

I've not had one problem with audio discs I've made.  I've played my first
disc on:
10+ year old JVC single deck
6+ year old Sony 10 disc deck
Newer JVC and Blaupunkt car decks
Atari JagCD
3 year old JVC minisystem

I'm curious as to what brand players were horking on your discs??

I wish I could tell you, but the players that all had problems all
belonged to internet friends for whom I made audio disks. The Verbatim
disks all work fine on the four players that I own--a TEAC, a Panasonic
boom box, a Sharp boombox, and a Sony Diskman. I personally like the
Verbatim disks a lot--it's just that some people have reported crackly
sounds on playback (two people, actually).

Weird.  Oh well.  Post if you ever find out, or if anyone else ever
experiences this.  Because it seems from our two lists that we've nearly
run the gamut of possible players, heh.  And my GF thought I was pulling
her chain when I kept wanting to play my first burned audio CD in all her
players.  She didn't buy the "doesn't always work" story and just thought
I was being self-centered...hah.

Can you 100% say that you listened to those particular discs BEFORE you
sent them out and did NOT get the noise?

Yes. And here's a note that I got from one of
my internet acquaintances
that describes the problem. I had more from
other people (at least one
other) that described exactly the same
problem, but I deleted it,
unfortunately. Though I'll try to see if I can dig it up.

My hypothesis is that some players don't track
well with the disks
because of the different kind of reflective
surface or maybe the way the
prearranged tracks are laid out particular to
the Verbatim disks. Dunno.

It might also me some sort of interaction with
the disk and my burner,
although I haven't had this problem with any
other type of disk.

Here's the note:
