Easy CD Pro was one of the two 'parents' of Easy CD Creator. ECDC is the
current product. It has a much more robust burn engine, user interface
largely from the other parent, CD Creator, and support for more drives.
ECDC as sold by retailers and Adaptec is the Deluxe version with tools
including Spin Doctor, Session Selector and CD Copier; for a full list,
see Adaptec's site. The 'standard' version has none of those tools and
is bundled with some drives.

Adaptec's policy is that there is no upgrade from a previous or partial
product to the full ECDC Deluxe. If you want the features you do not now
have, you must purchase the full product even if you already have part
of it.

1. Problems with ASPI update from EZCD-Pro and EZCD Creator 3.0

Has anyone noticed this problem when installing/upgrading their system
with EZCD Pro 95 or EZCD Creator 3.0?
I have a system which has one EIDE 2 GB disk driven by Intel Busmaster
drivers for 430HX PCI/IDE interface. I also have two Adaptec SCSI
adapters, the 2940AU PCI and an older ISA adapter (for my two
scanners). I have a Plextor 12X CD-ROM and a Yahama CDR100 attached to
the 2940AU adapter. Prior to installing the upgrade to EZCD Pro 95, I
had no problems accessing my either CD drive with either EZCD Pro 95
or EZCD Pro Multimedia (win 3.1/Win95). However, after the upgrade,
whenever I started EZCD Pro Multimedia, it said "Scanning SCSI Bus"
and then locked up. After pressing CAD and waiting about 30 seconds, I
got the tasks running popup with the EZCD app indicating "not
responding".  I also found that the QuickScan app from EZ-SCSI 4.0
also locked up.
After doing some digging around, I found that the ASPI modules in
Windows SYSTEM and IOSUBSYS directories were updated from dates in the
latter half of 1996 to June of 1997.  When I replaced the modules with
the 1996 versions, then both EZCD Pro Multimedia AND the QuickScan
programs worked fine!  I now installed the new EZCD Creator 3.0 and it
also "upgraded" the ASPI modules, and again I have the lockup problem.

I also ran the SCSI explorer from EZ-SCSI 4.0 and noticed that with
the new ASPI modules, the explorer shows me 3 SCSI adapters, showing
the 2940AU first with it's devices, then an "ideatapi" adapter with my
IDE disk, and finally the ISA SCSI adapter.  When I run the explorer
with the older ASPI drivers, it shows me the same three adapters, but
the sort order shows the ideatapi adapter as last.

It looks like there is a bug in the ASPI drivers when you have BOTH
SCSI adapters and use IDE devices.
