getobject failed after applying SRP

Post by Mare » Wed, 01 Aug 2001 00:42:20

I've got standard script on my IIS4.0 with ADSI 2.5, which shows users
full name:

FUNCTION whoami
DIM objUser,authuser,objstr
authuser=split(Request.ServerVariables("AUTH_USER"),"\")
objstr="WinNT://" & authuser(0) & "/" & authuser(1) & ",user"
set objUser = GetObject(objstr)
whoami=objUser.FullName
set objUser=nothing
END FUNCTION

It worked very well until I have applyed Microsoft's recently released
post-windows NT 4.0 service pack 6a Security Rollup Package (SRP).
After that I've got error:

error '80070035'
The network path was not found.

/test.asp, line 10 , (which points to set objUser statement.)

There's no error in Event Viewer.
When I move the script to another NT 4.0 SP6a server without this SRP,
the script works fine, so I think it must have something to do with
this SRP. I suspect some permission or restrictions problems, but I
don't know where to seek.

Could anybody help me with this matter?

Marek

I had exactly the same problem with my OWA servers.  I managed to remove the
SRP again (unlike other users) and have applied the SRP to another box which
I can play with.

I have found if I put in the Domain Controller between the Domain and User
it works fine, eg :

objstr = "WinNT://" & authuser(0) & "/" & Domain & "/" & authuser(1)

I haven't put this onto our production OWA servers as all the hotfixes have
been applied, the only reason for us doing this was for the RPC security
bulletin MS01-041 which is included in the SRP.

On the other machines that the SRP was put on there was no failure of the
keyboard or mouse like others are having a problem with.

Thank you very much -  it helped. You are great!.
I checked it on machines with and without SRP - it works on both.
