Is this one of the big old huge monster heavy TI-800 series? I used to own one
of these beasts (or work-horse as you call it.) It sat in a warehouse with
a PDP-11, languishing, until I rescued it and hooked it to a TI-99/4A (far
younger than it.) Later on it gained the name "Methuselah" and served as
the printer for my TI-Net BBS in Colorado Springs for times and a time,
at which point it was deposed by a flashy Star NX-150 dot matrix with
several times the resolution. However, since the 800 was so reliable it
had a happy last career running off copies of written exams for music
theory students before it was sold off to who knows where in 1990.

Its last owner, the music teacher, had gone to Hill Office Supply
asking for ribbons. They did find a whole box of ribbons for it,
which came on spools, and were glad to be rid of the entire box for
$1.00.

On the other hand, maybe your 810 is some relative of the TI printers
which sold with the TI-PC like the 880. In that case, I'd have to say
that those printers were rather light and sprightly. The TI-800 was about
3 feet long and 14 inches deep and took 132-column paper.
