Well this message will probably squirrel my deal with Atari but who
cares?

I offered my services as a beta tester for the UNIX on the TT (known
as ATX) back in June 1991. I even received a nice letter from a marketing
guy at Atari USA the first of July stating that I was accepted as an
ATX beta tester. since then I chatted with Bob Brodie a couple of times on
GEnie wrt ATX. But in the last six weeks I have heard NOTHING about my
status as a beta tester. And since I work full time and am trying to
do other things part time I don't have forever to wait for Atari USA
to get their act together.

So, what do I know about the ATX? Well, I was supposed to get a machine to beta
test it by August 1 (I foolishly thought it was 1991 but maybe they meant
1992 or 1993!). Which didn't happen.

I do know that the TT's native color rez isn't high enought to support
X Windows and so ATX was supposed to be deliver with the $1500 high rez
monochrome monitoer. Atari had an Interface builder called XFaceMaker which
would be included. but who knows? i just heard via the rumor mill that Tramiel
just fired the Atari Resident UNIX Guru, and if that happened don't hold
your breath for the ATX!

I hope someone at Atari will tell us what the He!! is going on with the
ATX!

Atari said: Available in 3 or 4 weeks

Developer's machine 16 MB RAM, 320 MB Harddisk will cost about DM 10000.--

1. TT Unix / TT TOS

I was wondering...

Is it possible yet in TT unix to set up a virtual ST machine.
Wouldn't this be something for Atari to support?
I really don't like the idea of the TT being either TOS or Unix but not
both together.

Someone in the know, please enlighten us.
