CD Recorder Pro vs. CD Recorder Pro 2

CD Recorder Pro vs. CD Recorder Pro 2

Post by Mark Simps » Tue, 26 May 1998 04:00:00

Can anyone tell me what the differences are between CD Recorder Pro,
and the newer CD Recorder Pro 2 from soundpool?

Does the earlier version support red book com pliant audio CD
Recording?

Does the earlier version also support Data recording and CD-ROM
production?

Does the earlier version support multisession recording?

I have the opportunity to buy a used copy of the earlier version (CD
Recorder Pro) at a good price, but first I need to know what it
does/does not do?

Thanx much,
 Mark S.

Hi Mark,

Which version is it?
If it is version 2.x, you can update it from the homepage www.soundpool.de,
free of charge :)))
If it's version 1, I wouldn't buy it - however, SoundPool may have some sort
of upgrade price that would make it worth the money anyway. Maybe you should
contact them about it before you buy.

All versions have been Red Book compatible, so you shouldn't worry about it.

The Pro version has two different programs provided, where one is for audio
only and one is for both audio and data. Previously there was an Audio only
version available, but they stopped shipping them separately after a while.

Not all versions unfortunately - even though they seem to support it :(
On the current version everything works very well.

1. MetaDOS vs. CD Recorder Pro

Hi,

In the midst of trying to get HD Driver 7.55 to work on my
falcon, I decided to reformat my main drive and start from
scratch, in the hopes of eliminating as many possible causes
as I could, (I also completely removed all drives from thier
towers so as to try them seperately, but that's another
story). To make a long story short, the backups I had on
syquest carts, were older than I thought, ao now I can't get
MetaDOS workin, thus preventing me from getting access to
all the various backups I have on CD-ROM. In short, I've
spent a weekend in Atari hell.

After installing MetaDOS 2.70 on my hard drive, I can open
the CD ROM Icon, but there is a single file called
"TRACK_01.PRG" sized at 76 bytes. This is always the same
regardless of what CD is in the drive, but the file cannot
be opened.

When I first installed this CD-R drive along with CD
Recorder Pro 2, I had the same problem. Mathias Pohl, solved
the problem for me by giving me a special .BOS or DOS, or
.??? driver to use with the falcon and MetaDOS, and I think
I had to use an earlier version as well. I can't remember
the specifics and unfortunately I archived the e-mail
conversations on the very CDs I now cannot gain access to.

I've e-mailed Mathias again, but I know he doesn't check
his e-mail but every week or two. I'm hoping someone here
uses MetaDOS and CD Recorder Pro on a falcon, who knows
exactly what I'm talking about, and can send me, or point me
to the proper files to solve my dilemna.

Right now the whole Atari side of my system is down, and I
need it kinda badly to finis working on a project.

Thanks in advance,
