Well, there's another good product here in germany:

the HEISE VERLAG (Hannover) (they bring out the c't magazine) is marketing
a battery-buffered clock that fit under EVERY ROM on EVERY SYSTEM. Soft-
ware is included for the ATARI ST series. It also works in the 1040 case !!!

You can use this clock on every rom or ram socket. (It's very easy to use:
simply access *for three times* the LAST ADDRESS on that ROM - then you can
access the clock ...)

The price ? 109.- DM ~~ $ 50

The ADDRESS is:

Subject:      'SMART WATCH' Real-Time Clock

I just got (paper!) mail from 'Michigan Software Distributors'.  A flier
describes the  SMART WATCH,  which is inserted under 'the number one ROM
chip'. $60 for the 520, 70 for the 1040, clock setting software included.
10 year (irreplaceable) lithium battery.

This is the 1st one that I have seen that claims that it will fit in the
1040 case. (Think I'd rather keep the cartrige slot free.)  Oh yeah, the
phone number's 313-348-4477 if anyone is brave enough to order one sight
unseen.

So gang:  Is this a decent price (US $'s)?
ARE there other clocks that fit in the 1040 case?
Does anyone have one? (i.e. are they any good?)
 /PJ

Usual disclaimers: I don't  know the distibutors above,  only interested
in the product.  Opinions (such as they are) are mine.
                   What? Who, me?
