Hello dear all,
I really need some help - I'm lost

I'm running 2.9.29 version of mrtg installed by me, not ports. My OS is
FreeBSD 4.8.
If you look here you'll see what i'm talking about:
http://atoyf.com/mrtg/localhost_rl0.html

My bandwidth is only 40kbytes/s in and 14kbytes/s out.

Thank you very much for your help

MRTG v2.9.29 on FReeBSD 4.8 shows non-sensence graphics

Post by Anto » Thu, 05 Jun 2003 00:48:12

Hi Mats,

Yes, i did something else,
now i'm running mrtg version 2.9.25 instead of 29, i installed it from the
ports too.
I don't know why version 2.9.29 was giving me a hard time...
But yup, it looks like everything is working now!
Thank you for your help

1. MRTG v2.9.17 to v2.9.29 with Nortel BayRS = intermitant SNMP error

Hello All,

I recently upgraded my fairly large (500 different interfaces) installation
of MRTG from v2.9.17 to v2.9.29 running on a RedHat 9 Linux machine.  I
monitor hundreds of Nortel Networks gear, specifically their BLN/BCN routers
(running BayRS versions 14.1D13, 15.2.0.6, 15.4.1.2).  Immediately after
upgrading I noticed a flurry of email messges to the root account that were
being recorded from the CRON job that was running MRTG.  The devices that
were causing problems were the Nortel BLN/BCN BayRS routers, the Passport
8600, BayStack 450, BayStack 350, BayStack 470, Passport 6480 were not
having any problems. Originally I had thought the problem was with a recent
upgrade to BayRS but futher testing proved that the different versions of
BayRS didn't play any role in the issue.  After backing off from v2.9.29 to
v2.9.17 the problem completely disappear.  I've glanced through the CHANGES
text from Tobi's web site and the only major thing that I can see is
SNMP_Session was upgraded.

Here's a blurb from the email message:

SNMP Error:
no response received
SNMPv1_Session (remote host: "bcn-gig-pp8600a.wan.xxx.xxx"
[10.121.255.21].161)

                 request ID: -83506752
                PDU bufsize: 8000 bytes
                    timeout: 2s
                    retries: 5
                    backoff: 1)
 at /usr/local/mrtg-2/bin/../lib/mrtg2/SNMP_util.pm line 458
SNMPGET Problem for ifInOctets.5 ifOutOctets.5 on

Has anyone else seen this behavior.  I guess I'll start by trying each
version between 2.9.17 and 2.9.27 to see where the problem occurs that then
work from their.

Thanks for the help.

Mike
