I recently upgraded my fairly large (500 different interfaces) installation
of MRTG from v2.9.17 to v2.9.29 running on a RedHat 9 Linux machine. I
monitor hundreds of Nortel Networks gear, specifically their BLN/BCN routers
(running BayRS versions 14.1D13, 22.214.171.124, 126.96.36.199). Immediately after
upgrading I noticed a flurry of email messges to the root account that were
being recorded from the CRON job that was running MRTG. The devices that
were causing problems were the Nortel BLN/BCN BayRS routers, the Passport
8600, BayStack 450, BayStack 350, BayStack 470, Passport 6480 were not
having any problems. Originally I had thought the problem was with a recent
upgrade to BayRS but futher testing proved that the different versions of
BayRS didn't play any role in the issue. After backing off from v2.9.29 to
v2.9.17 the problem completely disappear. I've glanced through the CHANGES
text from Tobi's web site and the only major thing that I can see is
SNMP_Session was upgraded.

Has anyone else seen this behavior. I guess I'll start by trying each
version between 2.9.17 and 2.9.27 to see where the problem occurs that then
work from their.
