mrtg analysis with snmpv2

hi!

i want to analys my cisco 2950SX-24 switch with mrgt. it works fine,
but only with snmpv1. if i change mrtg to snmpv2 i get no results, the
values out and in are always 0 mbit/s.

the config file for mrtg contains this lines for interface 1:

### Interface 1 >> Descr: 'VLAN1' | Name: 'VL1' | Ip: '194.40.195.6' |
Eth: '00-03-e3-55-ff-c0' ###

SetEnv[194.40.195.6_1]: MRTG_INT_IP="194.40.195.6"
MRTG_INT_DESCR="VLAN1"
MaxBytes[194.40.195.6_1]: 1250000
Title[194.40.195.6_1]: Traffic Analysis for 1 --
GEB3111-EG-194.40.195.6
...

i added the following line in the configuration of the switch:

snmp-server engineID local 0000000902000003E355FFC0
snmp-server community cw2000 RO

do i have to espacially enable snmpv2 on the switch?
have a nice day and thanks in advance...

yours faithfully,
andy kruesi

Try to obscure either your IPs or your snmp strings when you post
configurations.  You only posted a RO community string, but it's still
sensitive.

Hi

you must especially enable snmpv2c on the switch, while default there is only snmpv1

1. SNMPv2 & v3 Authentication with MRTG & HPOV

I have been asked to see if I can make HPOV NNM
or, preferably MRTG work with SNMP V2 MD5
authentication (RFC1321). I cannot find any
documentation on how to do this. If anyone has
any experience of getting this setup I'd be very
greatful for a pointer on where to start.
