OID to detect the line protocol Cisco

Post by Oliver Schlosse » Mon, 14 Jul 2003 21:03:00

Hall all,

i would like to get the line protokoll status from an Cisco interface
(serial 0/0)

Serial0/0 is up    <- Admin status    , line protocol is up  <- protocol
status
  Hardware is PowerQUICC Serial
  Description: Standleitung nach Duesseldorf
  Internet address is 172.26.50.1/30
MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1664 Kbit, DLY 20000 usec,
     reliability 255/255, txload 81/255, rxload 81/255
  Encapsulation HDLC, loopback not set
  Keepalive set (10 sec)
Last input 00:00:00, output 00:00:00, output hang never
Last clearing of "show interface" counters never
Input queue: 0/75/0/0 (size/max/drops/flushes); Total output drops: 109
  Queueing strategy: weighted fair

Does anyone knows the OID for the protocol status field ?

best regards

oliver

Hi,

It's the ifOperStatus of the MIB2 interface table.

Hello Erik,

it is not, that's my problem. I think it is in the private mib bit I can't
find it.

best regards

Oliver

oliver -

The OLD-CISCO-INTERFACES-MIB file contains the MIB definition:

     locIfLineProt OBJECT-TYPE
         SYNTAX  INTEGER
         ACCESS  read-only
         STATUS  mandatory
         DESCRIPTION
"Boolean whether interface line protocol is
                 up or not."
         ::= { lifEntry 2 }

The complete MIB would be 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.2.1.1.2. Hope this helps
solve your problem.

:it is not, that's my problem. I think it is in the private mib bit I can't
:find it.

The MIB is there on my 5500, both on the switch side and the RSM side.
It is not in any "private MIB" area: it's a standard location across
multiple vendors.

Question: when you did the probe, did you use a leading period
before the OID?  .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8  instead of  1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8 ?
If not, then it would have tried to resolve it as a name.
As a name it would be interfaces.ifTable.ifEntry.ifOperStatus
--
Can a statement be self-referential without knowing it?
