Does postgresql implements the FIRST COMMITTER WINS policy of snapshot
isolation method?

1. Concurrency control in SAS

We are considering providing a web-based data entry for the SAS data. It is
very possible that several clients will be writing into the same table
simultaneously, though updating the same record at a time is much less
probable. What can be done to insure a proper concurrency control? Does SAS
have any built-in capabilities? I read in
http://www.sas.com/rnd/itech/doc/dist-obj/winclnt/winado/iom_open.htm
that SAS IOM Data Provider implements pessimistic and optimistic locking,
but this requires IOM licensing. Does anybody know if Onyx,
http://www.internext-inc.com/software/onyx/, has any concurrency control
capabilities?

Thank you,

Julia
